ACADEMY OF SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY AND MEDICINE
The Academy is designed for students with career interests in medical, health, and research fields. The Divisions include health sciences and biomedical sciences. By design the biomedical sciences division requires completion of college level courses and the rigors of high level sciences and mathematics.
The Law, Public Safety, and Security career cluster is structured as a coherent sequence of courses. The pathway integrates academic and technical knowledge, providing students with both general employability skills and specific technical proficiency needed for further education in careers and fields in law enforcement, corrections, legal fields, and emergency telecommunications or management. The curriculum emphasizes competency-based, applied learning, which includes higher-order reasoning, problem-solving, and an understanding of the entire career cluster.
This course is designed to provide students with competencies basic to a cluster of occupations in the foodservice industry and to develop skills, knowledge, and attitude for success and advancement in a specialized occupational proficiency program. Course content includes employability skills, qualifications and career opportunities; introduction to operational procedures; basics of nutrition; characteristics and functions of types of food service establishments; safety, sanitation, security, and storage procedures; identifications, use, care and storage of commercial tools and equipment; cooking terms and vocabulary; standard and metric measurements; food preparation; and rules and regulations governing the food industry.
ELECTRICAL & TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY
This program focuses on broad, transferable skills, stresses the understanding of all aspects of the electricity industry, and demonstrates such elements of the industry as planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues, and health, safety, and environmental issues.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND MARKETING ACADEMY
This ACADEMY offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Marketing, Sales and Service career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills and occupation-specific skills and knowledge of all aspects of the Marketing, Sales and Service career cluster.
