March Announcements

Wednesday, March 31

Attention Class of 2021:  important senior meetings this Friday, April 2 during 1st through 3rd periods.  Students will be dismissed by announcement in alphabetical groups to report to the Performing Arts Center.  Plan to attend to give your input at this important meeting.

There will be SAT prep after school tomorrow, Thursday, in Mr. Lawrence’s room for anybody taking the in school test in 3 weeks. Room 1-215 until 4:30pm. Next week’s dates to be announced.

Biology End of Course tutoring will be held Tuesday and Thursday after school in Mrs. Conquest’s classroom, 1-312 until 5:15pm.  All Biology students are welcome.

Seniors – if you were working on the MHS Class of ’64 Scholarship and did not get it turned in – good news for you!!!  If you can get it to Student Services for Mrs. Scheuerman by TODAY, it will make the submission deadline.  If you are on LIVE, you can email the application and materials to Mrs. Scheuerman in the Resource Room.  This is a $500 scholarship EXCLUSIVE to Mainland students.  The application is posted on the Mainland website, scholarship page, or stop by the Student Services main desk to pick up a paper copy.

SCHOLARSHIPS are FREE money to help fund your college, tech and trade school after high school graduation.  There are MANY opportunities that are posted on the Scholarship page of the Mainland website – be sure to check them out today, time is running out on many of them.

ATTENTION JUNIORS!!  The applications for the Engineering Scholars Program at Embry-Riddle (ESPERS) are now available.  If you are interested in this summer opportunity, please see your school counselor for an application.  Deadline for the application is April 8th.

The ASVAB CEP is taking place on April 29th. Interested 10th-12th graders may sign up using the link on the school website under Student and Parent Resources/ACT, SAT, ASVAB or stop by the Resource Room.

April is Child Abuse Prevention month.  To bring awareness, you are encouraged to wear blue tomorrow, Thursday, April 1.  Blue Jeans.  Blue Socks.  Blue Shirt.  #wearblueday rocks!

Congratulations to Carolyn Marquez on her win of Mini National Sweetheart 15-23 this weekend.  She had a clean sweep and took 1st place in all events! Your auxiliary family is so proud of you!

Attention all students: The Teen Beach Mainland Mr. and Miss Mainland show is coming up next Thursday, March 11. Tickets will be on sale starting Monday, March 8 through Wednesday, March 10 before school and during lunch at the concession window outside the Hall of History. Tickets are $3.00 CASH ONLY. There are a limited number of tickets available for the morning 2nd and 3rd period show and the afternoon 6th and 7th period show and they will be sold on a first come first served basis. Vying for the title of Miss Mainland are: Calissa Cliffin, Raffaella de Castro Oropeza, Cassie Kilroe and Alexa Wilson and for Mr. Mainland: Xavier Harris, Zack Jordan and Isaiah Morrison. Make sure your get your ticket!

Attention Seniors: Voting for class song, class quote, class flower and class t-shirt will take place this Friday, March 5 through your English class. If you don’t have an English class, you may stop by the Activities Office to vote. If you are a live student, you may email your vote to Mrs. Rogers from your school email account.

Tuesday, March 2

Students who took the January ASVAB should be in the Media Center now for the required meeting and score release, unless you are scheduled to test in the Gym.

The next ASVAB Career Assessment is taking place in April. Sign up is now available on the Mainland website under Student and Parent Resources and is open to all students in grades 10 thru 12.

Seniors, final reminder that the Clarence and Grace Watterson scholarship application deadline is today. This is a need based scholarship that helps cover your funding gap for school. Two Mainland students received this scholarship last year. Details are on the Mainland Scholarship page and in the Resource Room.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be meeting today, in the Multipurpose room during first and second lunch. We’ll have a guest speaker, live music, a lot of fun and enjoy a time of encouragement and fellowship.

Cheer interest meeting today in the cafeteria from 4pm-6pm.

Attention students who took the ASVAB in January, please check your school email today for a message from Mrs. Scheuerman. Scores will be released tomorrow morning at the scheduled meeting. Any student not able to attend the meeting may pick up their scores from the Resource Room on Wednesday.
