After school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, there will be 4 Honors students in the media center ready, willing, and able to assist you with your classes. Mainland girls basketball defeated Lake Mary 61-49 on Tuesday night. Isys Grady scored 18pts, Nyasia James and Tia Dobson each scored 14pts. Our next game is tonight at Deland high school at 6pm. Our team slogan- Playing the hard way is the only way we know how to play.

In Girls Soccer news, Tuesday night, the girls soccer team got their first win of the season as they beat Deltona 8-0. Leading the way in scoring was Isabella Castillo as she netted 3 goals. Others scoring for the Bucs were Haley Corbin with 2 goals, Tegin Johnston had 1 goal, and Ava and Annabelle Dougherty each had 1 goal. Gianna Corbin, Isabella Castillo, Haley Corbin, and Sierra Yusup, and Ava Dougherty also each had an assist. Cathiann Goodwin had 2 saves in goal to help preserve the shut out. Great job girls!!!!

Congratulations to Xavier Dickerson and Parker McDuffie for earning their Adobe Animate Certifications. Lillian Flack, Brianna Riffey, Jamari Wilson, Jessica Dailey, and Lilu Bloodsworth for earning their Adobe Photoshop Certification. And last, but not least, Congratulations to Isaiah Anthony and Luke Davidson for earning their Windows Operating Systems Certification!

Girls Basketball defeated Eustis High School 63-51! Isys Grady finished with 25pts,

Tia Dobson finished with 12pts and Jymea Jackson and Camryn Campbell scored 7pts each. Come support us tonight vs Lake Mary as our seniors sign their papers to head to college. Congratulations to Stephen Stubbs for earning the Wessel Foundation Creativity Award at the Halifax Art Festival. Alyssa Dorton, Melody Nguyen, and Stephen Stubbs will have artwork displayed at the ArtHaus in Port Orange from November 18 – December 11. Congratulations to Layla Smith for placing 2nd in the Nutcracker Poster Contest.

In cross country action Saturday in Lake City, Molly Bronson led the girls with a time of 23:03 on a beautiful course. She was followed by Hannah Gilbert who ran a 25:15 and Kassie Stoner, who ran another personal best 25:23!! Way to go ladies!! Cross country, the toughest sport you’ll ever love.

Teacher Duty Day/Student Holiday

In cross country action Friday at districts in New Smyrna Beach, the Mainland girls took 3 of the 4 individual qualifying spots advancing those runners to regionals this Saturday in Lake City. Molly Bronson finished 7th overall with a season best 22:33 and Hannah Gilbert finished 15th with a personal best 24:38 to receive medals. Close behind were Kassie Stoner who ran a 26:09 followed by Hailey Sharp who ran a new personal best 26:47. The team was rounded out with Sylvia Okoh at 26:59 and Annabelle Dougherty at 27:48. Way to go girls!!!! BPND!! Cross country, the toughest sport you’ll ever love!!

This weekend at cross country districts, the boys team performed their best. Cole Bowman placed 14th overall with a season PR of 19:22, earning him a medal. Joey Short ran his season best at 19:35 and coming in 16th place overall. Sean Baughman came in with a new personal best at 21:24, and Logan Camara dropped a whole minute for a PR of 21:32. Kavon Davis dropped over TWO minutes from his last race and ran a new season PR of 24:49. Caleb Shealy ran a 24:42. Finally, despite their injuries, Alonzo Bell ran a 24:03 and Joshua Rodgers ran a 28:17. Great season boys, Coach Conquest is proud of you! Cross country is tough, not for the weak at heart!

Boys Basketball tryouts will be today after school. Varsity tryouts will be from 4-5:30 and JV Tryouts 5-6:30. In order to tryout you must have a updated physical. If you have any questions please see coach Giddens in the gym.

Calling all creative writers, film makers, actors: If you’re interested in submitting a short film for the first ever Buccaneer Short Film Festival, the deadline to submit is this Friday, November 6. The festival’s theme is Monster and the film needs to be a maximum of 6 minutes.

Yearbooks are on sale for $60 until December 25th. Books can be purchased online or with Mrs. Rogers during lunch.
