Congratulations to the Mainland Volleyball team for their victory against Seabreeze last night. The Bucs over powered Seabreeze with 7 stellar blocks and 6 kills from Asia Hubbert. 4 aces and 16 kills from Morgan Mundell. And an outstanding performance by the whole team to dominate over Seabreeze. The Bucs play next week Tuesday – Senior Night and play Seabreeze again on Wed night at home. Come out and support these ladies!

The boys bowling team defeated Pine Ridge yesterday by a score of 5-2. The boys were led by Kory Driver who had a 257 average on the day. The boys also had high games from Dalton Kilroe with a 221, Chris Boice with a 193 and Adam Driver with a 175.

The girls bowling team lost to Pine Ridge yesterday but had great effort from Cherish Lents, Tatyana Hollins, and Alexandrea Kilgore.

Great job Buc Bowlers!!

Thank you to all who donated blood yesterday (or on October 5th if this isn’t read on Friday). Mainland High School students and faculty were able to collect 61 units of blood which was enough to help save the lives of 183 people! Way to go Bucs!

ASIM will hold another blood drive in the spring so keep an eye out for dates

There is a very important Drama Club Meeting, today at lunch in the auditorium. The cast lists for Murder at Cafe Noir, The Enchanted Forest, The Lilian Place Haunted House, and the District One-Act Play will be announced and scripts will be given out.

Girls interested in trying out for soccer should come to room 2-132 Monday during lunch for an informational meeting.

Do you sing, dance, or have another amazing talent to share? Come audition for “Mainland’s Best Talent” next week on Wednesday, October 11th in the dance studio at 2:00PM! Acts will be selected from auditions to be in our Homecoming week talent show and the audience will vote for Mainland’s best talent of 2017! Acts should be performance ready at the audition and time limit is 3 minutes. The audition will start at 2:00PM in the dance studio located in the gym. Auditions are first come first serve, a list will be posted on the dance studio door on the backside of the gym to sign your act up. Solos and groups are welcome. If you have questions see Ms. Mahaffey. Bring your best and show us if you’ve got what it takes to be Mainland Best Talent on Wednesday, October 11th at 2:00PM!

Senior cap and gown order dates are Tuesday, October 10, Wednesday, October 11, Tuesday, October 17 and Wednesday, October 18.

ALL court members must turn in their personal information sheet to Mrs. Rogers in the SGA room 1-260 by the end of the day today. Those court members who did not attend the Tuesday meeting MUST stop by the Activities Office before leaving school today.

Volleyball Teacher Appreciation Night next Wednesday, October 11 All Faculty and Staff: please join us Wednesday, October 11 as we take on the Seabreeze Sandcrabs at 5pm for JV and 6pm for Varsity. Underclassman pictures are October 10th and 11th. Freshman will have pictures taken through their research class, sophomores and juniors will have their pictures through their English classes. If you do not have an English teacher please see Mrs. Gardner in room 1-328 for your appointment time and pass.

Free November SAT Registration and CSS Profile Fee Waiver for Hurricane Irma-Impacted Students. To support students and families affected by Hurricane Irma, the College Board will offer a free November SAT registration and a CSS Profile fee waiver. We understand this is a difficult time for those who are struggling as a result of the storm. We hope this measure can ease some worry for students and

ensure their college-going plans are minimally affected during storm recovery efforts. Please see Mrs. Carr in the Resource Room 1-238 for more information.

The free November SAT registration and CSS Profile fee waiver are for students who are experiencing hardship and/or displacement due to the hurricane and are in an area designated by FEMA. Please scroll down for the list of FEMA counties.

· Students who are registered for the November SAT should call Customer Service to receive a refund of their registration and late fee. Students can register and contact Customer Service through October 25. To reach Customer Service, please call 866-756-7346. · For the CSS Profile fee waiver, students should go to cssprofile.org, complete their application, and the system will automatically apply eligibility rules. To reach CSS Profile Customer Service, please call 844-202-0524.

Together, we can make an impact to help the victims in Puerto Rico. For two weeks, beginning October 2 through October 13, Volusia County Schools will collect donations. Every student, parent and staff member who can is being asked to contribute $1.00 – donations will be collected at the school and district level. We could potentially donate $70,000! One letter will be sent to United For Puerto Rico with all donations from the entire district. United For Puerto Rico is an organization created by the governor’s wife, Beatriz Rosselló, in collaboration with the private sector. The initiative aims to provide aid and support to those affected in Puerto Rico by the impact of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane María.
