Congratulations to the Tyler Reese who qualified to represent Mainland High School in the Golf State Championship next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Boy’s golf team would Also like to congratulate Coach Redden and Claire Albrecht for qualifying for the Girl’s State Championship. Great job golf teams!
It’s Beat Seabreeze Week! Today is Pink Out for Breast Cancer Awareness. Tomorrow, Orange Out National Bullying Prevention Month awareness. Thursday Krusty Krab (dress like a Seabreeze nerd) and Friday Blue and Gold day and also the Beat Seabreeze Pep Rally. See your teacher for Bell Schedule. Friday night’s game is at Municipal Stadium against Seabreeze at 7:00pm. Mainland is the “away team” and will sit on the North or Away side. Tickets are $6, parking is $5.
It’s also Red Ribbon Week! “Your Future is Key So Stay Drug Free”. Our SGA-sponsored annual Red Ribbon Week Door Decorating Contest is this week! Choose a class that you’d like to decorate your door according to the theme. Doors will be judged this Friday, October 27 during lunch. Please email me your room number so we know who’s participating. Winning class will be announced at the Pep Rally and will receive a pizza party!!
And, it’s National Bullying Prevention Month! The month of October & the color orange have been selected to bring attention to bullying awareness and prevention. Girls with STYLES will be recognizing bullying awareness with the “Stamp & Sign Campaign” during lunch this Wednesday in the courtyard. This is also the day we will have an orange out. Students and faculty will be given the opportunity to stamp their hand on an orange poster & sign in their imprint, as a pledge against bullying.
Art club will be cancelled today but will meet right after school on Wednesday.
Any student interested in participating in Science Olympiad, please stop by Mrs. Mandell’s room in 1-116 to pick up an application. Applications are due no later than Friday, November 3rd.
Our first BucTalk of the Year, sponsored by the Academic Team, is tomorrow Wednesday (October 25) and we hope that you can attend!

· Dr. Keith Garfield, professor of computer science at Embry Riddle, will be our community speaker.
Food and drink will be served at 5:45 in the Hall of History, with the presentations from 6:00-7:00. So come out and enjoy some intellectual conversation tomorrow night!
Girls basketball tryouts will be on Monday Oct. 30 after school in the gym. Please bring completed physical form paperwork, shorts, and sneakers to participate. See Coach Westbrook for details.
