Broadcast Announcements 10/4/17

Chaz: Good morning! Today is Wednesday, October 4th and it is time to begin another wonderful day at Mainland High school!

Rachel: I’m Miss Mainland, Rachel Caridi.

Chaz: And I’m Mr. Mainland, Chaz Morel.

Angel: Hello Bucs! This is Angel from SGA! As you know we have a weekly inspirational quote. The purpose of the weekly quote is to bring different forms of motivation to the students and staff here at Mainland High school.

Rachel: Here are some reminders for our Buccaneers:

Chaz: Make sure to get to class on time and avoid the dreaded Buc stop.

Angel: Please help keep our beautiful campus clean by putting trash in its place. Shout out to our gca custodial staff on their award. Anything we can do to help them maintain the cleanliness of our huge campus-not an easy job!!

Emily: All students need to have a Mainland ID. IDs may be purchased for $10 in bookkeeping and activities office before and after school or during lunch. Keep in mind you must have a school ID to be admitted to the Homecoming Dance.

Briana: Everyone can make a difference at Mainland High school by keeping our school clean. Please keep up the great work by throwing out your trash throughout the day.

Rachel: ASIM’s annual blood drive will take place tomorrow. Today is the last day to sign up during lunch. Be sure to specify

your age for the correct paperwork, those who are 16 years old require parent consent waiver. Donate blood and save a life!

Jana: Did you miss the yearbook sale? Don’t fret, yearbooks are on sale now for $55 with personalization for $6 more and personality icons for $3 each. This sale only lasts until October 31st. See Mrs. Gardner in room 1-328 or Mrs. Venezia in bookkeeping.

Chaz: Underclassman pictures are October 10th and 11th. Freshman will have pictures taken through their research class, sophomores and juniors will have their pictures through their English classes. If you do not have an English teacher please see Mrs. Gardner in room 1-328 for your appointment time and pass.

Rachel: Free tutoring at DSC for SAT math every Saturday morning beginning October 14th through November 18th from 10:00am- 11:30am in Building 600, room 200. Registration is recommended. Be sure to email blankee@daytonastate.edu

Briana: Junior class ring meeting mon 10/9 during lab. Class ring orders in hall of history during lunch Tuesday 10/10, wed oct 11, tues 10/17 and wed 10/18

Chaz: What are your goals and dreams after graduating from Mainland and how can a laptop help you achieve them? The Daytona Dreamer Essay contest aims to highlight and reward 2 exceptional Mainland dreamers. From now until November 3rd, ALL MHS students can submit an essay for a chance to win an Aspire One Cloudbook. The Daytona Dreamers essay contest is exclusively available to MHS students grades 9-12 regardless of GPA. For more information and to enter visit daytonadreamer.org

Rachel: General assembly meeting today during lunch in multipurpose room to go over important information about homecoming carnival. All class reps, academy liaisons and student reps from clubs and athletics who received an invitation should attend. Please bring your lunch and report directly to the mpr when the lunch bell rings.

Emily: International club members will be meeting today during lunch in the courtyard. We are going to gather to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage month. We will be singing and dancing. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun.

Jana: Now for some important dates for seniors:

Attention seniors: Mark your calendars! Graduation date is Friday, June 1st. Graduation rehearsal will be on Wednesday, May 30th at 10:00am.

Angel: Seniors: today is the last day to vote for senior superlatives. Vote at table outside the hall of history in the courtyard.

Emily: Senior cap and gown orders next Tuesday October 10 and wed October 11 and Tuesday 10/17 and wed 10/18 during lunch in hall of history. All students required to purchase cap, gown and tassel package for $65

Briana: Now in sports news……

Jana: Volleyball Teacher Appreciation Night – Tomorrow All Faculty and Staff: please join us Tomorrow as we take on the Seabreeze Sandcrabs at 5pm for JV and 6pm for V. Please come out and support our Mainland Bucs and let us say thanks for all that you do for our students.

Angel: If you are interested in playing softball this year come out on Thursday October 5th right after school at the softball fields. Please have your Physical in and be ready by 3:15. We will be doing some workouts so bring proper attire. Once again softball workouts right after school Thursday. See you then!

Volleyball Senior night Tuesday October 10th.

Emily: Tonight girls golf has an away match against Flagler Palm Coast. Good luck ladies!

Tomorrow Boys Golf takes on Seabreeze and Atlantic at 3:30pm at Daytona Golf Course.

Briana: Tomorrow bowling vs Pine Ridge 3;45 at the Ormond Lanes.

Jana: JV Football Spruce Creek home game at 4:30pm tomorrow, come out and support our Bucs!

Emily: Congratulations to the Varsity Volleyball team for their victory against FPC last night. Top performers were Asia Hubbert, Leeshel Gaines, Vanessa Cervantes, Morgan Mundell and Gabby Minnena. Please come out and support our girls Thursday at home against Seabreeze. This is also Teacher Appreciation Night. We would love to see our faculty and staff as we face our rival Seabreeze.

Angel: Now if you’re not into playing sports but don’t want to miss any of the action you can purchase a student athletic pass for only $35. This pass will get you entrance into all Mainland high school home games not including playoffs. You can cheer for your buccaneers and save money at the same time!

Emily: Any other questions about athletics please see Mr. Monahan in the athletic director’s office located in the gym.

Emily: And now, we have some important information to share about this year’s Homecoming!

Homecoming week begins Monday, October 16.

Angel: The theme is: Avatar: A Night in Pandora! Colors are blue, purple pink, and green. The dance is on Saturday, October 21 from 8:00pm – 12midnight. Tickets are $20 in advance and will go on sale beginning Monday, October 16. If you wait to purchase your ticket at the dance, it will cost you $25.00 and you could have a LONG wait in line! So, make sure to get your tickets starting Monday, October 16.

Rachel: Vote for homecoming king and queen tomorrow and Friday during lunch at table in the courtyard Candidates for queen are: Chekyva Himes, Sarah Perch, Abby Rich, Mikeya Tiller, Saniya Times. And king: Brendan Barnes, Ray Horton, Frederico Kelley, Rayquantrail Manning and Latavies Sylvester.

A reminder for ALL court members, your personal information sheets are due to Mrs rogers in the activities office by this Friday”

Jana: In order to purchase a ticket, ALL id/dues fees must be paid!
