Chaz: Good morning! Today is Wednesday, October 18th and it is time to begin another wonderful day at Mainland High school!

Angel: Hello Bucs! This is Angel from SGA! As you know we have a weekly inspirational quote. The purpose of the weekly quote is to bring different forms of motivation to the students and staff here at Mainland High school.

Sierra: Here are some reminders for our Buccaneers:

Jennifer: All students need to have a Mainland ID. IDs may be purchased for $10 in bookkeeping and activities office before

and after school or during lunch. Keep in mind you must have a school ID to be admitted to the Homecoming Dance.

Miangel: Did you miss the yearbook sale? Don’t fret, yearbooks are on sale now for $55 with personalization for $6 more and personality icons for $3 each. This sale only lasts until October 31st. See Mrs. Gardner in room 1-328 or Mrs. Venezia in bookkeeping.

Angel: Seniors: if you missed the cap and gown orders this week, Jostens will be on campus today and tomorrow during lunch in the Hall of History. All seniors required to purchase the cap, gown and tassel package for $65.00. Jostens will make a payment plan so please, see them this week.

Seniors can order cap and gown online at Jostens.com.

Sierra: What are your goals and dreams after graduating from Mainland and how can a laptop help you achieve them? The Daytona Dreamer Essay contest aims to highlight and reward 2 exceptional Mainland dreamers. From now until November 3rd, ALL MHS students can submit an essay for a chance to win an

Jennifer: Attention students: Do you need volunteer hours? Longstreet Elementary is looking for volunteers for their upcoming Fall Festival on Friday Nov 3rd from 4:30-7:30pm. Stop by the resource room 1-238 to sign up or for more information.

Miangel: Now for some important dates for seniors:

Attention seniors: Mark your calendars! Graduation date is Friday, June 1st. Graduation rehearsal will be on Wednesday, May 30th at 10:00am.

Rachel: College Board will offer a free November SAT registration and a CSS Profile fee waiver.

Angel: Attention all Juniors and Seniors! The Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep are holding their 10th Annual “Excellence in Education Challenge”. Students can register for a chance to win a new laptop computer based on grades, attendance and school sponsored activities for entries. At the end of the 2017-2018 school year, one student will drive away in a brand new 2018 vehicle. Go to the activities office for a registration form.

Sierra: Now in sports news……

The boys bowlin’ team had a dominating performance yesterday defeating FPC 7-0. The boys were led by Joseph Goodwin who averaged 255. The boys also had high games from Adam Driver, Kory Driver, Chris Boice and Jash Patel who had his high score for the year.

Jennifer: The girls bowlin’ team put up a great fight but lost to FPC yesterday. The girls were led by Cherish Lents who had a high game of 165. The girls also had high games from Tatyana Hollins, Alexandrea Kilgore, Flora Kane, and Anahndai Delaney. Great job bowlers. Good luck against University on Thursday!

Angel: The girls basketball team will be selling Bethune grill wings this Friday in the cafeteria during the carnival. See coach Westbrook anytime in the cafeteria during breakfast or lunch to put your name down for a preorder of these delicious wings.

Miangel: Soccer Tryouts cancelled today. Rescheduled for tomorrow.

Sierra: Attention all athletes, and people who enjoy staying hydrated: The Athletic Training Department is selling Gatorade squeeze bottles for ONLY $5 in the Athletic Training Room 2-104 before school, Buc break and during lunch!

Angel: Now if you’re not into playing sports but don’t want to miss any of the action you can purchase a student athletic pass for only $35. This pass will get you entrance into all Mainland high school home games not including playoffs. You can cheer for your buccaneers and save money at the same time!

Jennifer: Any other questions about athletics please see Mr. Monahan in the athletic director’s office located in the gym.

Miangel: And now, we have some important information to share about this year’s Homecoming!

Chaz: The theme is: Avatar: A Night in Pandora! Colors are blue, purple pink, and green. The dance is on Saturday, October 21 from 8:00pm – 12midnight.

Rachel: Homecoming Dance tickets are on sale in the Activities office before and after school and during lunch. $20.00 in advance, $25.00 at the door on Saturday. In order to purchase a ticket, all $10 id fees must be paid. Guest permission forms due to the Deans Office today.

Sierra: In order to purchase a ticket, ALL id/dues fees must be paid! If you are bringing a guest you must stop by the Dean’s office today to see if your guest was approved. Students may buy a ticket for their guest starting tomorrow.

Jennifer: Today is Character day, tomorrow is rep your class. Sr camo, jr Hawaiian, soph opposing team colors(black and red) fr freshmen shirt. and Friday is blue and gold day.

Angel: During this week nine painted rocks have been hidden around school, if you find one please bring it to the activities office for a free ticket to the homecoming game this Friday!

Rachel: Homecoming Carnival is this Friday! We are on a Carnival bell schedule. Your teachers have a copy. All students will be dismissed at 12:45pm for lunch and carnival. The cafeteria will be open from 12:45-1:15pm. Lines will close down at 1:15pm.

We will have Pep jam at the beginning of Carnival this Friday.

Miangel: The winners of the spirit dress up day contest from Monday were Tyler Gilbert and Eureana Simpson. Come out and participate today, tomorrow and Friday.

Chaz: The Homecoming game this Friday of October is at 7:00pm in the Municipal Stadium. Tickets are $6, parking is $5.

During halftime our homecoming King and Queen will be crowned, homecoming court members are: Seniors: Morrisa Locker, Sarah Perch, Abby Rich, Mikeya Tiller, and Saniya Times. Brendan Barnes, Ray Horton, Frederico Kelley, Rayquantrail Manning, and Latavies Sylvester. Freshmen representatives: Quintavia Frost and Kayon Davis. Sophmore representatives: Jana Taher and Katavion Scott. And Junior representatives: Shaniya Wilder and Kevon McCrary.

Angel: Next week is beat Seabreeze week and red ribbon week “Your Future is Key so Stay Drug Free”. The month of October & the color orange have also been selected to bring attention to bullying awareness and prevention.

Sierra: Spirit days are: Monday-Career Day, Tuesday-Pink Out Day, Wednesday-Orange Day (Anti-Bullying), Thursday-Crusty Crab Day, Friday-Blue and Gold Day. The Beat Seabreeze pep rally is also next Friday
