Daily Announcements 8/30/17

Good morning!  Today is Wednesday, August 30th and

it’s another awesome day in Buccaneer Paradise!

Rachel:                 I’m Miss Mainland, Rachel Caridi!

Chaz:                    And I’m Chaz Morel, Mr. Mainland!

Sierra:                    Hello Bucs!  This is Sierra from SGA!  As you all know or

will soon find out, we will be having a weekly

inspirational quote.

This to bring different forms of motivation to the

students and staff at Mainland High school.

This weeks quote is:  Every accomplishment starts with the

decision to try.

Chaz:        Thank you Sierra for that memorable quote.  Here’s some

reminders for all our Buccaneers:

Dress Code Policy:  All students must wear a blue, gold, white,

grey, or black collared polo-style or oxford-style shirt.

Solid Navy blue, black or tan pants, shorts, capris or jumpers

including black or blue denim.

Rachel:    Tardy Policy Reminder!  After the final bell, classroom doors

will be locked and late students need to go to BUC Stop for

the remainder of the period.  It’s not a fun place so let’s try

to be punctual and let’s Buc Go to class.

Chaz:        All students need to have a Mainland ID.  ID’s may be

purchased for $10 in bookkeeping and Activities office

before and after school or during lunch.

Rachel:    Let’s keep our school as Buccaclean as possible!  Everyone

can make a difference by keeping our campus mess free,

please keep up the great work by throwing out your trash

during lunch and throughout the day.

Chaz:        Come join the Key and Rotary Club and help serve our

community.  First meeting tomorrow, Thursday, during

lunch in the Media Center.  See Coach Burton for more


Rachel:       The Drama Club will be meeting Thursday, at lunch, in the

Auditorium instead of their usual Friday meeting.  Haunted

Houses, Plays, Musicals, and an Enchanted Forest will be

discussed.  Pick up a membership form today and you could

be find yourself onstage tomorrow.

Chaz:         The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will hold their first

meeting during lunch September 12th in the athletic training

room.  Any questions see Mrs. Butler or Mr. Pinyan.

Rachel:     Calling all Seniors who have not taken their senior pictures

yet!  Call MPG Studios now to make an appointment,

deadline is Saturday, September 2nd.  Call 672-6505.

Chaz:          Senior picture make up day will take place here at Mainland

on Friday, September 22nd from 10am-12pm.  This will be for

your formal yearbook pose only.  Need $21.30 the day of to

give to MPG.  Sign up sheet in main office.

Rachel:      The FSA Score Reports from last year are in! All FSA, ELA,

Geometry, Algebra I & Algebra II score reports are

available for pick-up in the front office.  Please show your

ID when you go to pick-up your scores.


Chaz:          For a limited time the 2018 yearbook is being sold at the

lowest price of $50.  Get it personalized for an extra $6.

Please see Mrs. Gardner in room 1-328 or Mrs. Venezia in

bookkeeping to purchase at this low price.  Prices go up

after August 31st.

Rachel:       Internship available at Museum of Arts and Science.

Applications can be picked up from any science teacher,

and must be given to Mrs. Mandell in room 1-116 by

September 20th.

Chaz:         Attention Juniors:  Are you interested in a leadership

opportunity?  The FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County

Schools has a leadership program designed just for

juniors.  Tomorrow’s Leaders participants meet and interact

with community leaders to develop a better understanding of

current issues and concerns impacting the future of Volusia

County.  The program is a six month commitment for students

and parents.  There will be a minimum of 40 students chosen

from Volusia County’s 10 public high schools.  If you are

interested please see your guidance counselor for more

Sierra:              And now, in sports news:

Congratulations to the Mainland Football team for

defeating Deland this Saturday 24-0, way to go Bucs!

Congratulations to the boys bowling team as they defeated Spruce Creek 7-0 yesterday in their best match of the year.  All 6 team members contributed to the win.  Kory Driver lead the boys with a buy cheap phentermine online high game of 279.  Others bowling over 200 yesterday were, Joseph Goodwin, Chris Boice, Adam Driver, and Dalton Kilroe.  Jash Patel also had his high game of the year for the Bucs.  Great Job boys.


The girls bowling team won their first match of the year defeating Spruce Creek 7-0.  Cherish Lents had another great performance with a high game of 167.

The boys and girls next match will be on Thursday at Ormond Lanes against Matanzas.  Come on out and support the Bucs!!  Bowling the only sport you can play while eating chicken quesadillas!!



Antonee:         Swim Team will have their first meet tomorrow versus

New Smyrna Beach High School at Aqua Park Edgewater

beginning at 4:00pm.  See you on the deck!

Angel:              Cross Country proudly raced last Saturday at Deland

Invitational.  They will also be racing this

Saturday at Spruce Creek, come support this fearless

group, cross-country toughest sport you’ll ever love!

Jennifer:          Any girl who is interested in playing golf, please see

Ms. Redden in building 2 room 224.  Thank you.

Sierra:              A message from our Athletic Director:


Antonee:      Hello students of Mainland High school.  Are you

interested in playing a sport and earning a varsity letter

while in high school?  Well keep listening because we’ve

got everything you’ll need to know and more!!  The first

thing you’ll need is a sports physical.  There are physical

packets located in the front office and also in the athletic

training room.  Once those packets are completed, turn

them in to Mrs. Butler (formerly Miss Walker) or Miss

Dickinson in the athletic training room before or after

school.  After you’ve turned in your packet you’ll be able

to try out and practice with any athletic team o campus.

In order to play on the team you must maintain a cumulative

GPA of 2.0 and pay your $75 pay to participate fee.  Those

fees can be paid on the school webstore or you can pay Mr.

Monahan in the athletic director’s office or Mrs. Venezia in

the book keeping office.


Angel:        Now if you’re not into playing sports but don’t want to miss

any of the action you can purchase a student athletic pass for

only $35.  This pass will get you entrance into all Mainland

high school home games not including playoffs.  You can

cheer for your buccaneers and save money!
