Mainland High School is seeking new student, parent, community, teacher, and staff candidates to serve on the school’s School Advisory Council for the 2019-20 school year. Committee membership is a 1-2 year commitment, and responsibilities include:
The School Advisory Council (SAC) meets each month with the Principal and SAC Chair. All parents and community members are invited to attend our meetings at 5:00pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. on the dates listed below. If you are interested in becoming a member of our SAC this school year, please contact Ms. Danielle Leffler.
- Active participation in the school improvement process and attend all SAC meetings
- Developing/Reviewing the school’s mission statement
- Using Florida’s education goals and the district’s goals as guiding principles
- Examining all aspects of the school when developing the School Improvement Plan (SIP)
- Prioritizing the needs of the school
- Developing strategies for improving the areas of need
- Developing a plan for measuring the results of the SIP
- Assisting in the preparation and evaluation of the SIP
- Assisting in the preparation of the school’s annual budget
- Deciding how to spend the SAC funds to meet the SIP goals
- Assisting in recruiting and retaining other SAC members

- September 14th (elections due by September 17th according to timeline) Meeting to held virtually through Teams
- October 13th ( District approved final version of SIP are published for public access in CIMS)
- November 10th (11th is Veterans day)
- December 8th
- January 12th (SIP progress monitoring 6th -25th)
- February 9th
- March 9th
- April 6th
- May 4th
Attendance at SAC meetings is extremely important.
